Special events & unscheduled runs in 2014

Besides the regular timetable - which can be found in the schedule - Dampfbahn Fränkische Schweiz also organizes special events and extra runs on special occasions. Down below you can find the events which are planned for 2014. On top of it you have the possibility to book extra runs on our railroad (from Ebermannstadt to Behringersmühle) or on other railroads (consent of the railroad owner required). DFS kleinKUNSTzüge 2014 (Cabaret-Trains 2014)

The program of the 2014's kleinKUNSTzüge (cabaret trains) is still in the planning phase. More details will be published on kleinKUNSTZüge (www.kleinkunstzug.de) prior to the start of the season (May-October). (Cabaret program and therefore information on that event series are available in German language only!).

Special Events to mark the 40th anneversary of DFS

Dampfbahn Fränkische Schweiz will celebrate its 40th birthday in 2014! Reason enough for us to accompany the jubilee with a couple of special events.

29th May Opening session of the festival weekend placing emphasis on "Steam engines". Rides every two hours. Tentatively supported by guest engines from other railway associations.

30th May Special trains for photographers and a vehivle parade after sunset in our illuminated railyard at Ebermannstadt.

31st May - 40 Years Dampfbahn Fränkische Schweiz with guest of honor, railroad vehicle parade and offical ceremony in our new railcar depot at the railyard Ebermannstadt.

1st June Special trains tentatively supported by guest engines from other railway associations.

14th September Spevial event probably supported by guest engines from other railway associations (historical diesel fueled railcars und engines) in addition to the scheduled steam engine pulled trains at 10.00 am and 2.00 pm.

Historical market

On June 15th a historical market at "Unteres Scheunenviertel" (lower barn district) in Ebermannstadt takes place. Round off your impressions with a little steam-nostalgia and allow yourself some recovery on a trip through the valley of the Wiesentriver aboard of one of our trains!

Bahnhofsfest at Ebermannstadt Station

All details on the great Bahnhofsfest (railroad event at Ebermannstadt Station) on July 13th with an interesting supporting program and an extended schedule can be found can be found prior to the start of the season (May-October) here.

Old town village fair at Ebermannstadt

Finish your trip aboard of our trains through the valley of the Wiesentriver on August 15th or August 17th in the relaxed atmosphere of the Ebermannstädter Altstatdfest (Ebermannstadt old town village fair) taking place from August 14th to 18th!

Full steam ahead - Holiday fun

On August 15th, 20nd and 27th additional steam and diesel engine operated trains are scheduled for vacationers, day trippers and all others who are on holiday in the area around Ebermannstadt. Our Motto: "Full steam ahead - Holiday fun". Departure at 10.00 a.m., 2.00 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. from Ebermannstadt. Return trips at 11.00 a.m., 3.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. from Behringersmühle. The schedule is based on our regular time table. The regular DFS tariff will apply for this event. Trains departing from Ebermannstadt Station at 10.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. are operated by a steam engine, the train departing at 4.00 p.m. is pulled by a historic diesel engine (type series V36 or V60).

15th Fränkische Schweiz Marathon

On September 7th the meanwhile traditional "Fränkische Schweiz Marathon" (Franconian Swiss Marathon) takes place along the Wiesent River Valley. Dampfbahn Fränkische Schweiz will operate a supplementary train pulled by a diesel engine in addition to the regular time table. Departure 12.00 a.m. from Ebermannstadt Station / 1.00 p.m. from Behringersmühle Station. Information on the sportier part of this event can found here: www.fs-marathon.de (German only).

Please note that the national highway B470 will be blocked for motor vehicles between Forchheim and Pottenstein from 6.00 a.m. respectivley 7.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. (Details for motorists, website in German language only).

Thanksgiving at Muggendorf

On October 5th a excursion train (traction vehicle: diesel engine) will leave Ebermannstadt Station at 12.00 p.m. to the Harvest Festival at Muggendorf, where a Thanksgiving Day Pageant takes place. Dampfbahn Fränkische Schweiz offers an additional return trip to Ebermannstadt departing at approx. 8.30 p.m. (shortly after the fireworks) from Muggendorf Station.
